I've been studying for the GMAT since November and have scheduled a test on 14th Feb.
I've been able to fairly improve on the Quant section getting a 42 even after making silly mistakes on the practice tests.
My greatest problem however is the verbal section (only scored a 26).
1 >> Comprehension reading - Fairly good even with dry topics ... the only time i get stumped is with ism's... however this is still manageable.
2 >> Critical Reasoning - Although i understand the question stem and the argument, find the conclusion and premises, etc. i tend to fall for the traps..
Some of the reasons that i can cite for the above result are :
a) Out of Scope - most right answers that i skip over tend to look like they are out of scope.... when does a given scenario fall out of scope or when does a scenario that seems out of scope fall back into the scope of the argument.
b)Gaps in reasoning - how do i reason out the same gaps that the test maker wants me to ( i understand that this cannot exactly be thought but depends more more on my own intuitive nature). But with such convoluted sentences and abstract answer choices... what do i do ???
3 >> Sentence correction - I've read the whole of the Manhattan series, was able to solve most of the problem sets behind each chapter easily but when it came to solving the OG problems i found myself even more confused than when i started... it felt like a Japanese sports anime where the opponent has hit the ball so hard that it seems to split up into 6 different images and i have to somehow figure out which one is real.... I watched the Veritas prep videos by Brian Galvin on youtube for sentence correction and that seemed to help a little bit... now i can answer some of the question properly, but not all (more like 50-50 chance of success)
i know i'm in deep when it comes to the verbals... i still want give the exam (partly to get over my fear and the pressure) this Friday even though i know there may be very little room to practice and even less room to improve significantly.... however any help or advice would be much appreciated.
