Adnan scores 45% of the marks in an exam and passes by 5 marks. Taimur scores 48% of the marks in the same exam and passes by 32 marks. what is the number of marks necessary to pass the exam?

A) 200
B) 400
C) 450
D) 600
E) 900

so 48-45=3% of the marks is 32-5 or 27
hence 45%= 27*45/3=9*45=405

so pass marks is 405-5=400

Let x be mark obtained and y be pass mark

45/100*x=y+5

48/100*x=Y+32

->3/100*x=27

x=900

y+5=45/100*900

y+5=405->y=400

option B
