Hi,

My exam date is 08/08 and i have still not hit my target scores.

My Kaplan scores have been 560 / 570 / 560 with verbal in high 20s and quant in mid to high 30s.

On gmat prep tests i have scored 650 and 680 [Quant scores: 45 and 47 and Verbal Score : 33 on both occassions].

I am looking at a score in excess on 700 [guess that is no surprise] and wondering if i should reschedule my exam date. Also, if i reschedule, how should i use the time to improve my scores.

With verbal, each time it turns out to that a different area pulls back my score. My hit rate with SC has improved after Manhattan, but CR and RC fluctuate constantly.

One thing i figured out was that i wasn't giving enough time to each question in verbal. I use much more time in particularly difficult RC or a difficult CR than what i should and that in turn, kills rest of the verbal, but when i don't spend that much time on it, I get most of the answers in that passage or that particular CR wrong.

Putting this post on the board as i need suggestions on:

1. Is hitting 700+ with a little over two weeks doable or will it wise to postpone the test date?

2. As score depends on answering difficult questions, how much time should you spend on difficult verbal passages or CRs?

3. How should i plan out next week or so to help me with speed up RC and CR without compromising accuracy?

4. Any particular books that i can refer for RC and CR? Also, i have exhausted my prep tests from kaplan and gmac, should i use different tests or should i just do them all over again?

All help is greatly appreciated.

With your GMAT prep scores nearing 700, with concentrated effort you could reach the score in 2 weeks. But if it is possible, I would suggest you take additional time.

2. As score depends on answering difficult questions, how much time should you spend on difficult verbal passages or CRs?

As far as passages are concerned, you cannot judge the difficulty just based on the passage. The passage may seem difficult but the questions may be easy in certain cases. So you need to time yourself well on all passages.

3. How should i plan out next week or so to help me with speed up RC and CR without compromising accuracy?

RC and CR are two areas where you cannot increase speed in short duration of time. I would suggest you identify the question types you go wrong and prepare accordingly. Remember to see improvement in two weeks you should focus on areas where you can actually improve.

4. Any particular books that i can refer for RC and CR? Also, i have exhausted my prep tests from kaplan and gmac, should i use different tests or should i just do them all over again?

I used OG 11 and verbal review. Check out the resources section on this forum. You could take mini tests of 20-30 questions in VA alone rather than taking the complete test.
