I am an engineer and my hit rate is 95 + % on the Quant but I am struggling with Verbal...

Reading Comprehension 72% 01:04
Critical Reasoning 86% 01:46
Sentence Correction 82% 01:13

I will take my test on 9/24. I have completed the OG 11, Manhattan GMAT books, CR Bible and verbal notes. I have not touched the Verbal and Quant review books yet. What would you recommend to me ?

The first thing that comes to mind is that your average time on RC is only 1:04, which is incredibly fast. Too fast in my opinion; notice that it is also where you are weakest. I'm not sure why you are working so quickly on RC, but it appears that speed is having a detrimental effect. I really cannot see how you can read the entire passage carefully, fully grasp the message, read the questions, locate the relevant part of the passage AND answer correctly in such a short amount of time. Indeed, you are not doing very well on specific details, main ideas, and tone - all things you should be getting correct if you really understand the passage and know where to locate the details.

Next, you want to focus your attention on the things that are really detrimental, in particular, question types that you score low in AND take a lot of time on. However, it appears you do not have a problem with too little time; in fact, I'd argue you have a problem with too MUCH time. Slow it down so you can use that extra time to think things through and do more analysis of your choices. Also, focus on the top 5 biggest weaknesses - those in the high 60s and low 70s hit rates.

Thanks for your advice. I think I can definitely use more time on RC. What is your strategy on RC ?

And do you think it is a good idea to work on the CAT after completing all the OG problems ?

Please see my blog for more information about my RC strategy and tips. I believe I have a few posts about RC. For the cats, you should be doing cats as you work through the OG book. The reason? It's the perfect place to learn from your mistakes and apply your lessons learned. You cannot simply read a solution and immediately apply what you've learned - it takes practice just like how when you learned addition and fractions in math, your teacher assigned you a lot of math homework. You have to practice, apply, practice apply before the lessons become natural to you.
