Need a one month study plan!!

Hi,

I have purchased the Official Guide for GMAT 2015 and the online access to all 6 practice CAT's of Manhattan GMAT. I had taken the GMAT a few months ago and scored 560 ( My official scores were Verbal - 28, Quant - 39, AWA - 4.0, Integrated Reasoning - 4 ). My target score is 700. I was using the Kaplan Test Prep, and nothing else, the last time, but in all fairness, I did not stick to to a regular schedule, so I can't really blame the book. I noticed that the lack of a concrete study plan was possibly one of my biggest disadvantages. I work full-time in a very high-demanding job, so I can spare 1-2 hours a day during weekdays and around 6 hours each day during the weekends. I am planning to take the GMAT in the first or second week of September as I would ideally like to begin classes next Fall.

I have seen many one-month study plans floating around the internet, but each website recommends its own online software which is usually extremely expensive. Also, whenever I ask for advice, someone posts the link to their website in which I need to pay a lot of money to get advice. It would be great if someone can help me prepare/direct me to a comprehensive study plan for 6 weeks with the resources I have. If someone could give me a plan that they've already used previously, and it helped them, that would be great too.

I cannot over-stress the urgency of a solution for me.

Hi siri_k,

Your situation requires something of a "reality check"; you've studied a certain way and earned a 560. You don't want to purchase any new resources, but you want to score 700+ (which is the 90th percentile - meaning that 90% of Test Takers either CAN'T or WON'T do what it takes to score at that level). With 6 weeks to study, you have enough time to make some big improvements, but you're not sure how to proceed (and you're essentially looking for someone who will give you a perfect study plan, for free).

It does not seem like you're going to get everything that you want.

There are plenty of options when it comes to GMAT study materials (Courses, Books, Tutors, etc.), but they all require a certain degree of investment (time and money). Many GMAT companies/products offer some type of free samples (practice materials, "trial" accounts, etc.), so you should do some investigating. Take advantage of the various free resources, then pick the one that best matches your personality, budget and timeline.

Based on what you've described, you might have to invest either more time or more money (or both) into the process than you originally thought was necessary. That's part of the cost of earning that elite score. The GMAT is a standardized, predictable exam - you just need consistent, professional advice to master the material.

Hi Siri_k,

Since you have been referring to the standard and well structured study material already therefore you must check whether it requires a different or specific new source of material to improve your score or it's the approach towards solving the study material in a way that gives you better command over all the concepts needed to score well in GMAT. You have identified one of the reasons as Inconsistency in preparation already

You must know that GMAT is a predictable and well designed exam that can be cracked if the material is referred with right approach to practice important concepts alongwith enhancing the ability to apply the concepts learnt in the questions asked in more creative ways.

As rightly suggested by Rich, You need to definitely spare time and/or money to do preparation well. For professional with the work schedule like you have, I highly endorse the Online Classes where you get the flexibility to take classes at even odd hours so that you can consistently work towards preparation.
