The book contends that Othello is not a better play but more carefully constructed than King Lear.
a. Same as above
b. Othello is not a better play but more carefully constructed
c. not that Othello is better but a more carefully constructed play
d. that Othello is not a better play but a more carefully constructed one
e. not that Othello is better, but it is more carefully constructed

There is a debate between A and D. I think A is the correct answer. Experts do comment in case A is wrong and D is correct

D is correct

In A, the play is being contrasted with King Lear

in D it uses the idiom correctly.. is not a x but a y
