hello All

This post is specially for the founder of this site Mr Eric

I am very disappointed with the results of " BEAT THE GMAT SCHOLARSHIP 2010". This main attractive part of this site is online forum. i have observed since from my joining that the forum is full of posts and topics posted by Indian students.
All most active members, thanked members, conversation starter, first responders are Indians. Out of 6 winners only one is Indian and rest are from USA. There is no doubt that US students are very good. The only point that i want to put is that Indian students participated in this forum so diligently and sincerely that than any students. I don't know what is the strategy on which these scholarship is given. And main point is that Indian students are so active on this forum because we are not so rich that we can afford those costly online coaching packages offered by institutes who advertises on this site and expanding there business. Indirectly they are doing business on our contributions. I am very disappointed with the results displayed that we are not given anything even not the list of participants are highlighted.I think we are those working official who work hard on this site.So Mr Eric i think there should be something for Indian participants.I hope you don't mind on my views.I always wish to improve this online GMAT FORUM.

Thanks and Regards

PradeepKaushal9518

I also expects your views regarding my opinions friends.

Hi, I'm one of the most active members on this forum and I'm not Indian and have no qualms with the results of the scholarship. I think the scholarship promotion is used mainly to attract people to the site, so if you are already here and an active member, there is no incentive for them to give you a scholarship imo. No worries, we are here to help you, you will achieve your goals if you work hard and continue to use the site as a resource.

Your argument is inferring that the scholarships should have been given as awards to those that have actively participated in the forum, which is definitely not the intent of the scholarship.

I see very little incentive to discuss this topic, but rather a narrow path away from the purpose of this website, which is to "Beat the GMAT".

Very well said uwhusky!

Pradeep: First things first. Please be grateful to Eric for a site like Beat the GMAT. Please be happy that the quality of material on this site is by far better than any purely Indian forum. Also, please understand that, we are here to help each other out without expecting anything in return (that is the point of any forum, btw). You see us Indians flocking here because we see value in it and in the process we contribute as well. Finally, please understand that Eric has been very generous to institutionalize a scholarship, which, by the way, he need not!! So, play fair.

BTW, I am an Indian, living in India. Just in case you wanted to know.

well,
i am not from india and
i am not questioning about any thing about scholarship.
(i even didnt applied as finding 3 recommendations in short period was difficult for me)

but there are merit scholarships and need based scholarships.
As no exams are given here for appliciants beatthegmat scholarship turns out to be more need based schloarship.

now,
not just india for most asian and african countries, they are not in state to afford online classes
why?
bacause of money
just calculating
i found that (in case of india)
around 3000$(that most oline prep classes takes) =around 150,000 local money
for some other it is more than quater million
(will you spend millions just for preparation?)

so to whom that scholarship would have helped more?
(to someone who cannot do with out it....or someone who can still manage if they dont have sch...)

This scholarship would have been light of ray for them bringing something to their whole life...

any way having said that,i have nothing against any one...i love this forum and it is great to have such a magnificant resources and to be discussing with such a elite team....

just forwarding one part of story....
