So I have been studying for the past month and I have my exam scheduled in 3 weeks.
I took my first practice exam last night (MGMAT) I actually bought the entire package so I have 5 more practice exams on there. My first practice score was 580 (Q36 V33). I set a timer on both sections and I finished the Verbal, but didn't even see the last 6 questions on Quant. I kind of took my time because I thought I'd just be given a warning instead of a hard cut off. In any case I spent 10 minutes on 1 PS question and 6 minutes on another one. Even though I got them both right and they are both in the 700-800 level, this is clearly not the way to go. I come from an Engineering background so I thought my math would be awesome, but clearly I overestimated my own abilities.
I've done most of the number 100+ questions in the OG (big book only). I think I have a good understanding of all the concepts, perhaps I just need to refine my strategies and approach to problems.
For the PS, I don't really have any defined strategy, except veen diagrams where necessary and the every now and then chart set up for rate, distance problems. Am I missing key strategies here? I definately do not have problems with Algebra but I feel the Number property questions always tend to get me. Perhaps I just need to revisit that section more. Also for DS, I don't have any good stratgies as well, except look at 1), then 2), then 1) and 2) together. I have been keeping an error log of my mistakes and so far I seem to be 90% accurate on PS problems, 75% on DS and somewhere around the 85% ranges for all 3 verbal sections.
What do you guys think I should do from here? My plan is to review my mistakes from last night first, note the sections I'm weak in and refer to my strategy guides for those sections. Then revisit the OG book, then take another exam this weekend and see where that takes me.
Any advise would be great, don't be afraid to hurt my feelings! Thanks.
