Hi All,

I am new to this site. The below if my first attempt for an issue analysis topic. Please kindly review and advise where I stand!

Many thanks!

TOPIC: "Everywhere, it seems, there are clear and positive signs that people are becoming more respectful of one another's differences."

My Response:

The subject of how people are becoming more respectful of one another's differences has been open to much debate now. Some argue that differences in one another still exist. However, on the other hand, people in modern society believes that due to the emergence of globalization and the increasing diversity standards in international companies and institution people are becoming respectful to one another's differences. In this discussion, I shall refute the former statement, and support the latter one.

First, due to the emmergence of globalization, this world has become a sigle united family which has been achieved by the joint effort of all the people living in different countries. In today's world domestic companies who are trying to break into the international world, need cooperation and understanding from the people of the country where they are trying to reach. For example, when drive-way system was first introduced in China, people did not fully understand the concept and bought the meal through drive-ways and then parked their cars and ate their meal in the restaurants. The companies later made a constant effort to make them aware of this concept so they can fully utilize it. This incident is an example that people are becoming more respectful to other's differences by helping them understand the concepts rather than mocking at them.

Second, in today's world, international companies and educational institutions emphasize on outsourcing and increasing diversity. Outsourcing shows one country's dependence on another company. For example, different countries depend on India for outsourcing as the labor is cheap over there and many countries including, India, depend on Middle Eastern countries for the oil supplies. This interdependency shows clearly the respect for one another's difference as all countries make a joint effort to fulfill each other's demands and needs. In addition to outsourcing, diversity also shows that people respect one another's differences, as diversity brings differnt skills and talents on the same table. Diversity comes with some confrontation also as people have different opinion in terms of their culture, values, and preferences. However, more and more companies and institutions are emphasizing on diversity which shows that people benefit from each other's differences despite some confrontations and hence, respect that.

One the other hand, some may argue that people still do not respect one another's differences as reacism still exist in our society. Unfortunately, it is a valid statement, however the newly elected presendent of the United States, Barack Obama, who comes from minority, truely validates that the opinion of the people are changing and they are becoming more and more respectful to one another's differences. That is why, one of the strongest nations' population have elected a minority candidate to be their president.

In conclusion, while many argue that racism still exists and which ultimately shows that there is a majority of people who do not respect one other's differences. However, the rising globalization and the prevelance of diversity have proved that people are becoming more and more respectful to one another's opinion.
