Hello Folks,

Can someone please tell me,
when we say 'x is 2 greater than a multiple of 5' can we really consider 5 as a multiple of 5 as 5 = 5 x 1
or shall we consider 10 ,15..60..125, 255,655 etc only.

Yes, if a problem states that "x is 2 greater than a multiple of 5", x could be 7. Note that 0 is also a multiple of 5, along with -5, -10, -15, etc..

In this case, a general equation for x can be : x=5k+2, where k is an integer
