The OA is D...what is wrong with B and C?

Consumers may not think of household cleaning products to be hazardous substances, but many of them can be harmful to health, especially if they are used improperly.

A
B - Consumers may not think of household cleaning products being
C - A consumer may not think of their household cleaning products being
D - A consumer may not think of household cleaning products as
E - Household cleaning products may not be thought of, by consumers, as

E creates a clause unnecessarily, so it is regarded as incorrect. That's my guess, anyway.

1st Split: Idioms: "Think of X as Y" vs "Think of X to be Y" vs "Think of X being Y"
This is a pretty common idiom. When the writer intends to say that X = Y using the veb to think, the proper construction is "Think of X as Y". Eliminate A, B, and C

2nd Split: Ambiguous Pronouns: "consumers" vs "consumer"
Any sentence that uses the plural "consumers" and the plural "products" will commit an ambiguous pronoun error when it tries to refer to either noun with "they" and "them". Although we know that "many of them can be harmful" means "household products", this is not clear from a grammatical point of view because there are two plural nouns in the sentence ("consumers" and "products"). Get rid of any answer that uses plural consumers. Eliminate A, B and E

The only remaining answer is D

(I recommend OG, MGMAT SC, and GMATFix for verbal prep)
