Modern science is built on the process of posing
hypotheses and testing them against observations-in
essence, attempting to show that the hypotheses are
incorrect. Nothing brings more recognition than
overthrowing conventional wisdom. It is accordingly
unsurprising that some scientists are skeptical of the
widely accepted predictions of global warming. What is
instead remarkable is that with hundreds of researchers
striving to make breakthroughs in climatology, very
few find evidence that global warming is unlikely.
The information above provides the most support for
which one of the following statements?
(A) Most scientists who are reluctant to accept the

Very few find eveidence would support the point that there is any evidence at all

Combing these two we can reach of the opinion the most (since very few find evidence) of researchers in climatology are just trying to overthrow conventional wisdom . Hence they are guided by interests.
In case someone has a better explanation ..Plz put it . I realized this after I saw the answer

i also did in a similiar manner. But i got confused between B and E. i think both the statements are trying to tell the same. how you chose B over E?

I ommited E beacuse of thwe word primarily ... Words such as primarily , the most important , etc are rarely right answers. You cant decide what was the primary factor . The only thing what you can say is that motivation did play a part .. Also e seems to be generalizing for all Researches done in global warming there might be some researches that dint have desire for recognition in the scientific community. as their primary area of interest

(B) Most researchers in climatology have substantial motive to find evidence that would discredit the global warming hypothesis. Correct...two reasons...(1) most researchers have motives....it comes from 'some scientists are skeptical of the widely accepted predictions of global warming'...meaning very few are skeptical....meaning most are not skeptical about global warming predications; (2) most scientists are motivated by the desire to overthrow existing hypo...1 & 2 taken together means most are not skeptical about global warming predications and are driven by the desire to overthrow existing hypo

(C) There is evidence that conclusively shows that the global warming hypothesis is true. Word 'conclusively' is too strong for an answer of must be true question. Moreover, argument never mentioned that global warming hypothesis is true...it says, very few scientists find evidence that global warming is unlikely...that means some scientists have found that global warming hypo is likely....but can we say conclusively based on some scientists finding that global warming is likely (ie. True)..is asking too much

(D) Scientists who are skeptical about global warming have not offered any alternative
hypotheses to explain climatological data. No discussion on alternative hypo

(E) Research in global warming is primarily driven by a desire for recognition in the scientific community. Argument says nothing bring more recognition than overthrowing existing hypo...recognition in scientific community (not mentioned). Moreover, word 'primarily' shows scientitis do research for recongnition....we can't say that from argument
