Logitech,

The way you are giving back is truly amazing. I myself is someone who is beaten by GMAt twice. My quant score went from 48 to 45 and Q from 29 to 39 but the q 48 and v 39 did not come in the same exam :( .

Being an Indian engineer, I am supposed to do good in maths , but my q is a little shaky. This is my quarterly plan for maths , could you please let me know if they are ok?

OG-10 PS & DS last 200 questions
OG-11 PS & DS last 100 questions ----- Each OG one week with analysis
MGMAT 1-6 once taken now analysis
MGMAt 1-6 re-exam----- This is my target by end of April

Sets 21-31 Q with analysis
New MGMAT 1-6 analysis ----- End of MAY

Analysis of all the weakness found from GMATHACKS+some elementary math books
GMAT prep 4 times with analysis------- End of June

Please let me know what loophole do you find in my plan?

Thanks a lot,
CBM

In my opinion, one of the differences between Verbal study and Quant study is that you do not need to solve millions of questions for Verbal. Drilling the subjects and understanding the basics behind the questions are way more important than solving tons of questions. So as I always advocate: Quality > Quantity

BUT!

When it comes to Math, no matter what your background is ( I have many EE friends who scored < 48 in GMAT ) you have to face as many questions as possible - as long as they are good representatives of what are being tested in GMAT. So stay within the GMAT scope.

Going back to your plan, I thing you have all the stuff you need:

Gmat Prep
OG
Manhattan GMAT questions

OG will teach you the basics, Manhattan will train you for tougher questions and GMAT prep will give you the taste of real thing BUT,

GMATFOCUS, which is available at mba.com, will be the best indicator! I highly recommend investing in those tests!

There are always more sources:

gmatclub tests
Kaplan800
and etc...

But you will learn more on BTG Math Forum than anywhere else. Pick up people's brains, follow their posts. Each post from Ian, Ron, Bent, Stevart, Danaj, Cramya, and many others are like lectures! ( I like that Logitech guy too, he is cool! :) )

But the reality is in GMAT land , nobody is really interested in how many questions you solved or how much you know about the subject.

Can you solve 37 questions in 75 minutes ?

Do you know when to walk away from a question ?

Do you know what exactly you will do in each question type ?

Well the answers to these questions will determine your Q-score in real deal.

Good luck my friend,
LGTCH

I agree with Logitech, GMATFOCUS is great stuff for quantitative, even though it gives you a range that I find difficult to understand (what the heck means I'm between 39 and 46? I'd like it to be a little more narrow!).
But the questions you will find there are a bit different from the ones in GMATPrep, and I believe those new questions to be more representative of the real test ones!

Schumi,

If you are using a OG tracker or keeping a log of question types you get wrong..you will find out your weak areas. And most of the time we waste our time on the questions we get wrong!! - The worst scenario!

For example:

If your hit rate for Work Problem is only 25 % and you spend average of 3:15 minutes on them..next time you see one - try to solve it under 2 mins and if you can't ..just walk away because you know that you are not really good at this type of problem..well this way you can AT LEAST save time and spend it on your Strong Areas!

Thanks Logitech.

My weak area in Math are Number properties and divisibility, especially DS questions.
I am very comfortable with PS, but sometimes little slow.
I will keep this tip in mind and work towards it.

Verbal - I know the concepts well. But it depends on the problem that I make mistake at that moment. I dont have any specific question type that i make mistake perpetually or take more time to solve.
How to pinpoint the weak area in Verbal?

Also I generally tend to slow down between 11 - 20 question nos. and because of this lose the battle with time almost everytime. Any advice?

Congrats Logitech!!!

USC is awesome! I am a USC alumni (engineering school) and was a TA in Marshal for 2 courses in Fall 2007. I worked with the Prof. Doug Shook who at that time was the associate dean. I also took a course in Marshall with Prof. Arif Ansari...

You will love USC...it is the best...has the best chicks too...by far :D !!!
