logitech ,
congrats...way to go!
i have a question..
so u have taken a lot of practice tests right?
what r available CAT options once u have already used GMATPREP and Manhattan Gmat?
i mean how do u judge if u r ready? u dont want to decide on the basis of good scores from gmatprep 3rd or 4th try right? so what to do?

Logitech,
i dont think the "congratulation" part will look finished unless i wish you..
I know i m late in wishing you dude.. but being a mariner you cant help it... at the moment i am away form my home town( mumbai), in sum secluded town named Doula in west africa, sitting in a dilapidated cyber cafe and not regreting that i am spending the few countable hours i have got on land by sitting in front of a computer...This is because this guy deserves it.
Just want to say all the best for the application process.. Make it happen...!!!
Hope to see you around for some more time...
Congrats!! once again..

Hi Logitech,
Congrats on such a great achievement. I am sure everyone will immesely benefit from your GMAT experience.
In my previous GMAT attempts I am stuck on Quant with a score of 40-44. I wanted to ask how would you push your score to 49.
Congrats again!

One big component is TIMING. Most of the time the difference between a 49 and 44 is not how much you know but how fast you can solve!abhi75 wrote:Hi Logitech,

AT the end, GMAT is solely interested in how fast you can come up with a solution. And this is simply how you should deal the ambiguity in business school & life.
A problem - Limited time! And they want you to come up with an answer!
Good news is GMAT is testing a very limited set of concepts. ( MGMAT covers them all + BTG Math Forum is simply fantastic blend of all kind of questions )
Practice Makes it Perfect! - This is the only way to get better at pacing yourself. So time yourself and practice!

Personally, all you need is GMAT Prep.conomav wrote:logitech ,

MGMAT will definetly prepare you for challenging math questions, but its verbal score is not in line with GMAT prep. ( IMO)
GMAT prep has +/- 30 deviation. So I would say if you are scoring 30 points above your target - you are ready!
One advice would be to hit GMAT when you have the momentum. Do not study 10 months! I remember posting the LODR on "tip of the day" thread:
In economics, diminishing returns is also called diminishing marginal return or the law of diminishing returns. According to this relationship, in a production system with fixed and variable inputs (say factory size and labor), beyond some point, each additional unit of variable input yields less and less output. Conversely, producing one more unit of output costs more and more in variable inputs. This concept is also known as the law of increasing relative cost, or law of increasing opportunity cost. Although ostensibly a purely economic concept, diminishing marginal returns also implies a technological relationship. Diminishing marginal returns states that a firm's short run marginal cost curve will eventually increase. In the modern physical systems view, diminishing returns is a stage in the learning curve of developmental and environmental responses for any individual physical system, beginning with positive marginal returns and leading to a system wide 'point of diminishing returns' when the sign of the marginal return reverses.

my problem is that my results with gmat prep is now skewed because i see a lot of repeats...i started taking gmatprep earlier in my preparation ..now when i try it again..i'm getting mid 700's with 60-70% new questions.
Hello Logitech,
My best compliments to you for this wonderful achievement.....
As a new bee in this forum i am highly motivated with your success story.
I read your below post which was posted after taking the test for the second time (correct me if i am wrong).

Did you get answers for the questions that you have raised in this post? If at all nobody has answered you rightly, i am sure that you would have found them by now and that tells your success....
Can you share us those answers?
thanks and regards

Frankly, I did not learn so many new tips and concepts in my final study. I just started to study more smart and really focused on my weaknesses and how I can overcome them.Prajeen_v wrote:Hello Logitech,

One thin I realized was that I did not need "MANY" sources to study from. I had more "lean" study program and focused on OG+MGMAT materials and tried to understand the common things in WRONG and RIGHT answers.
I was in descent shape in Quant, but I spent good amount of time on the forum to learn from others and acquire "gmat" solutions from the experts. This experience pushed my Q-score up.
As for the Verbal goes, I started to read alot - which helped me tremendously - I have an engineering background, and I focused on social science passages and articles from times.com, businessweek.com and etc..I also grabbed the "doing the grammar", which helped me not only in SC but also in reading comprehension.

And finally - I tried to have fun! Studying for GMAT is actually fun! You learn how to process information faster, how to write better sentences, how to increase your reading speed, how to piss people off with your CR skills and how long you can stand in a chair without loosing your mind
Good luck my friend! Go & Beat the GMAT!

This sounds like Scott Turow's advice in 1L. Any suggestions about how to make it more enjoyable?logitech wrote: And finally - I tried to have fun! Studying for GMAT is actually fun! I think the best way to learn something is to try to teach it. If you can have a study group, explain what you know to other people. Or simply post questions and reply posts. If you post "1" question to each section (PS, DS, SC, CR and RC ) every day and answer only "2" posts from each section, you will be dealing with 450 questions INSIDE OUT every month!pJackson79 wrote:This sounds like Scott Turow's advice in 1L. Hi Logitech
Wow thats very inspiring debrief i have ever read. I am also in similar situation. How ironic. probably you dont believe the following.
I made my first attempt on Oct 13th got 580 (Q 49, V 22). I never scored such a low score in verbal. My PT scores were ranging 600-690 (Q 47-49 V 27-37) before my first attempt . I scheduled PCA w/ mgmat instructor.
for varbal i ran out of time for the last 15 qs. I did not know the time trak 5/66 rule at that time.
After my first attempt i was really devastated , i read one of the instructor's reply in your second attempt debrief ( i was like i read your second attempt debrief 6 months back). I started reading wallstreetjournal and nytimes. After one month i got back to MGMAT books.(i forgot to mention i was student of mgmat in person course in NY). Even i left out mgmat cat 5,6 after my first attempt.
Now i scheduled my exam on april 6th. Now my PT(mgmat, gmatprep) scores are ranging 680-700 (Q 49-50, V 31-37). My biggest weakness is SC so i am decided not to spend much time on tough SCs.
What ever you did for your second attempt i did the same thing now.
Now i am little bit nervous.
Any suggestions to my last 2 weeks of preparation.
