Missing Link - GMAT Verbal Score

Hi Friends!!!


I have started my GMAT preparation few months back and I am aiming for above 700. Recently I have joined in this forum and gone through various topics. It is really nice to see that you all guys guiding the issues regarding GMAT strategy... I am facing an issue regarding my verbal score which I couldn't find out in my practice tests.

I feel that some missing link spoils my verbal scores which I want to identify as soon as possible.

Pl. find my practice tests score as follows,

GMAT Prep 1 - 430 (Q35 V13)

GMAT Prep 2 - 460 (Q40 V14)

I do believe that as far as you are ready to learn new things nomatter what it is you will learn it and a right guidance can make this learning much better experience.

I will really thankful to you if you can spend some time in providing your valuable guidance.

I'm going to sound very mean, but your verbal is really, really bad. There are several explanations for this:
- you are not a native speaker: work on your vocabulary by reading high quality material in English (Economist, WSJ) and improve your grammar by using a good grammar book (like the ones published by Longman or Oxford)
- you do not know the question types well enough: invest in strategy guides such as Manhattan SC, Manhattan RC and PowerScore CR Bible. These three cover the verbal in depth and will help you boost your score.

In the meantime, do not neglect quant. While your scores are not as bad as in verbal, quant brings much needed points for nonnatives such as myself and countless others. Good luck!
