Miserable on GMAT (580, 580, 530).Daring again..pls help

Dear Friends,
I have failed with GMAT thrice now (580,580,530 ..in that order). But, be it my hunch that i can do better or zeal to do mba, i really want to give it a shot again in 2 months from today.

I am sure i have a gazillion mistakes in my approach (given such bad scores) but i am yet to know concretely how do i correct my mistakes

. All i know is, English is my weakpoint. In all my 3 attempts my max score was 30 . Thats all.

I have my gmat on sept5th 2012 . I really want to cross 700 mark (may be too much to aim, given my record ..but i want to get to there somehow).

This time i want to jott down a proper plan and really give a hard-try . Can you please help me with this ?

I am thinking working through following books -
1. gmat og 12th edition esp for eng ( i see 13th is also out but is thr a considerable difference ? )
2. Manhattan
3. Kaplan
4. Tests wise - mba prep tests, mgmat tests and kaplan tests.

At this point, i really don't what exactly to do so as to boost my score. All i know is, there is a lot out there i got to do to make upto my darn mistakes

First word of advice... That is a lot of work and not a lot of time to try to increase your score by 120 points in 2 months after several tries. Really spend as much time as you can on the fundamentals instead of just doing more problems from books.

Thanks Jim,

I really have two fundemental questions.

1. Leaving an individual's capability aside , practically speaking is it possible to increase 120 points especially after so many attempts.

2. Does the gmat software considers the previous scores also (jst a wild thought) while giving out the current score. I mean i have such bad scores previously so will i be given questions roughly in that range and will be evaluated around that range of marks ?

3. How will ISB look at so many such low scores . I know they say they look at highest score by default, but i am sure they would consider the track record, isn't it ? . So bad could that act on me

I scored 530 and 540 in my first two attempts 2 years back and last week I scored a 680.

Definitely not. It truly depends on your capability on the test day. If it considers the previous scores, then what is point of retaking. You can better be off rather than retake because all you get is the same score.

I have spoken to n number of people and asked the same question and all I got was don't worry about the number of attempts as long as you show improvement. So its like between two attempts there should be considerable improvement. If not wait till you see improvement and then go for the exam.

Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.
