Mike took the GMAT. During the 75 minute, 37 question quantitative section, Mike answered the first 18 questions at an average rate of 3 questions per minute. If Mike finished the quant section of the GMAT in exactly 75 minutes with no time to spare and answered the 37th question in exactly 3 minutes, what was Mike's average rate in terms of questions per minute for questions 19 through 36?

(A) 0.5 questions per minute
(B) 1 question per minute
(C) 1.5 questions per minute
(D) 2 questions per minute
(D) None of the above

IMO B.

1 - 18 questions 3 min per question. So time taken is 54 mins.
For 37th question 3 mins again. 57 mins.

Average time for 19 through 36 = total time/total questions
total time 75-57 = 18
total ques 37-19 = 18

So avg = 1 qn per minute.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.

Using an equation,

18*3 + 1*3 + 18*x = 75

x = speed in mins per question, the total solution time is an addition of the time used up in first 18 questions (3 mins per question), the 37th question (3 mins) and the remaining was spent on the 18 questions (19 - 36).

on solving, x = 1 min per question or 1 question per minute
Hence B

Note if x had turned out to be 2 (mins per question), then the answer would have been 1/2 questions per minute!! I am sure to make this a 700+ question GMAT would add this twist to it.
