C lacks parallelism
resulting in X and in Y

Whereas E is parallel
Causing X and Y where X and Y both are concrete nouns.

I think there are three possible problems with C. I believe you use as much as with uncountable terms. Percent is countable meaning you should use "as many as". Im also not sure that meager harvest can result in anything. I think they have to cause something. I also think that parallelism is a problem. resulting in mass starvation...the elimination. I believe you need an "in" before "the elimination".

fightwith gmat and fitzgerald 23 i have the same feeling like your for option E. i m glad somebody thinks like me but there are 2 problems with option E ( much/many) which i cant see during my test. actuall gmat is this test only to find the error under pressure.

"Causing the result" is redundant. You can directly say "resulting". Causing and resulting have same meaning.

My preparation is causing the result of my success.

See how awkward it looks.

You can simply say :
My Preparation is resulting in my success.

firstly , "much" as opposed to many should be used along with population
So, narrowing the correct answers can be either B or C
In B , "causing the result of " is incorrect and awkward..whatever you may call .. Result is redundant with Cause

Hence C is the answer
