A is definitely clear and concise. If follows a subjunctive form "suggest that" and also denotes a possibility by adding "may"

Recent studies suggest that an intake of vitamin E in excess of that found naturally in a balanced diet may actually increase the risk of developing certain illnesses

Recent studies suggest that taking vitamin E in excess of that found naturally in a balanced diet actually increases the risk of developing certain illnesses

Changes the meaning. Suggestion should be followed by possiblity of the event and not the fact as stated in B

The OA is A .

However I was choosing between A and B and I thought there was a rule that says that if you use words like "suggest" then you don't use another wishy washy word at the end. Not sure what the official term for it is called. Another exam would be like "he demanded that she possibly speak up" or something like that.

Can someone shed light on this?
