MGMAT CATs vs GMAT Prep CATs...

by gmatismybane » Wed Aug 26, 2009 7:51 pm
Hi all,

I am taking my exam this weekend and I need some feedback.

I have been doing both CATs. I first took the GMAT Prep CAT1 (with practically no prep). I took my MGMAT CATS most of the way through. And I just took the GMAT Prep CAT2 (installed like a 4 mths ago).

My CATS went:

GMAT Prep 1: 650
MGMAT CAT 1: 640 (Q: 47 V: 31)
MGMAT CAT 2: 650 (Q: 46 V: 33)
MGMAT CAT 3: 700 (Q: 47 V: 40)
MGMAT CAT 4: 720 (Q: 49 V: 39)
GMAT Prep 2: 690 (Q: 49 V: 35)
MGMAT CAT 5: 740 (Q: 51 V: 40)

I really don't like how my GMAT Prep 2 CAT is much lower than the others. I reviewed the mistakes I made, and several on both sections were silly (it might have just been a bad day)... but has anyone else had a similar trend. I am fairly certain the MGMAT 5 51 was largely because I ran out of 700-800 Q questions. Most other times on MGMAT Quant I usually guessed on 5 or 6 problems at the end, on the MGMAT CAT 5, I finished with 10 minutes left.

However, I am a bit concerned with the dramatic difference in scores on verbal. It could have easily been a bad day. But I need some reassurances with others who have faced a similar trend.

Also, I am re-installed the GMAT Prep software altogether, so I am assuming the CATs will be pretty new since last time I installed was 4 mths ago.

2 more days... and I am kind of worried. But I do realize at this point, I can't do too much to extensively affect my scores. I just want to know what to expect.

The GMAT Prep CATs are the same no matter when you install them. if they add new questiopns I think they will announce it.

For verbal ALAWYS trust your GMAT Prep score above all other scores.
