median amount student earned

Expert replies
by nailyad » Sun Dec 27, 2009 10:23 am
Amount earned per day 96 84 80 70 48

Number of days 4 7 4 3 2

Student worked for 20 days. What is the median amount of money student earned per day for the 20 days?

My solution was: since median is asked, I arranged the amounts from least and then picked up 80.

The correct answer is 84.

Can I get some help here?

Think of a list of 20 numbers. How would you find the median?

How is this any different that this other thread you started:

https://www.beatthegmat.com/median-amoun ... 49924.html?

Again, please post the entire question, including answer choices (although at least this one is in the problem solving section!).

When you rewrite the question in your own words, you almost certainly miss something. There would never be an actual GMAT question written in shorthand like you did here; if you post the full thing, we can explain exactly how you misinterpreted the question (which is what you did here).
