Hi Stacy ,

This is Jawad Shah here from Pakistan . I am 31 and currently working as Senior Market Representative at Target sourcing services/AMC . This company is the global sourcing arm for retail product for TARGET Stores-USA.

I have done my MBA from Pakistan in 1999 and since then been working with Target. I have served the company in Pakistan at 2 different locations and also in UAE for 5-years.

Now at this stage where i have served the company for 9 years , i do not see much progress further in this overseas office. And it wont transfer me to other location either.

So either i have an option of changing my field by doing MBA OR do MSC supply chain to diversify existing experience of retail supply chain. But i'm bit unsure about the career growth of later career option.

Can you please advise me from your perspective on which option should i go for to propel my career. ( recommend some univs )

I'm also relocating to Canada in 2009 as resident . so you may suggest taking some courses there too.

Dear Jawad,

Since you have already earned a MBA degree, then you are not eligible to earn a second one. If you think your current degree is not equivalent to a US or Canadian MBA, then you should have your transcript evaluated to determine if it is equivalent. There are a couple of credentialing services that are known and accepted by most schools, World Evaluation Services and Global Credential Evaluators. If your current degree is not equivalent, then you would be eligible to apply to other MBA programs in the US and Canada.

As for whether to do a MSc in Supply Chain instead, that depends on what your career goals are. If you know you want to continue in supply chain management, then the MSc program is a good option. However, if you do not want to stay in supply chain, then you might consider other master's degrees as a way to make career change.
