Hi,
I have around 7.5 years of IT experience,currently working at chicago.
I have taken GMAT 3 times, however my best score is 530.
I understand this is not a good score,however I really want to do MBA.
Can you guys please suggest some school which can take this score - I am planning for part time ( evening or weekend ) MBA.
I am looking for something with cheap tution fees, possibly in Chicago area.

Hi
You should research these schools form Chicago area: DePaul Universit, Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, University of Illinois at Chicago, Liautaud Graduate School of Business, Loyola University Chicago, School of Business Administration, and Northern Illinois University, College of Business (Offers programs in the Chicago suburbs). They are all in the similar GMAT range of average scores around 520 to 620.

Just curious if you took an MBA prep course? They are very helpful! I am an advocate because the prep course raised my personal score greatly. I am biased to VeritasPrep.

Hi pj02,

I second the question posed by Courtney. I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but a 530 really isn't a great score. If you're looking to do an executive MBA, sometimes they don't even ask which could be a benefit. On the other hand, if you're looking to do something part-time or full-time, they definitely will.

It might be a good option to take a course (@Courtney - I am unbiased but I have had clients say great things about Veritas GMAT prep) and raise that score. An MBA is an investment - you need to make sure you've done everything to bump up that score because every notch you move higher makes an impact.

I know that isn't exactly the advice you probably want to hear. I am not saying you shouldn't look at an MBA, just to do everything you can to strengthen your application so that when you consider programs you can look to the best ones you can get into!
