MBA in China

by Oneva » Fri May 02, 2014 1:16 pm
Hi everyone,

I just wanted to post a question that has been on my mind for a while. I am a US citizen who is interested in applying to a school in China for international exposure. The school I was most interested in was CEIBS. However, during my research, I was unable to find any information about students after their MBA programs.

There were a few great blogs from people who were in the program or just entered the program via Bloomberg and CEIBS website. However, I could not seem to find their career details post MBA. (IE Isaac Iglesias- Journalist for Bloomberg) It seems everything I am searching for online are article topics promoted by CEIBS marketing.

Without much info to build on, I have budding concerns on a Chinese MBA. Another reason was mainly because there was an article out recently stating many Chinese students are obtaining their degrees from MBAs in the US before returning to work in China. I feel that with the intensive competition it might be best to avoid the Chinese MBA and focus mainly on obtaining a US MBA.

I was wondering if I could request the help from a wiser and more experienced forum-er on my quest for knowledge. Thanks, much appreciated.

Hello,

First of all, it is great that you're thinking of going international!

CEIBS has no doubt one of the most respected MBAs in China. One thing about CEIBS program is that it is largely China focused and most of the time, it works well for people who want to pursue a career in China upon graduation. If you intend to pursue a career in China post MBA, then CEIBS may work for you. If your definition of international goes beyond CHINA, then we would encourage you to take a look at the INSEAD MBA. Every year, INSEAD admits a diverse mix of students from 90 nationalities. You not only get to be exposed to so many different nationalities, you'll also have the benefit of recruitment from our Asia & Europe campus.

Hence, before you decide which school can offer you the international exposure that you mentioned, we need to understand your background and career objectives after the MBA. For a US citizen, indeed heading to the 'wild' east for an MBA is a laudable act!

We are running a campaign now where we provide a free 1 hour alumni connect to help you with any questions that you have about your INSEAD application. Send us an email at [email protected] if you are keen to enroll.

Best,
