Hi All,

I was wondering if you could help me evaluate my chances of getting into the B-schools that I want.

A brief background:
GPA: 3.99 ( American university in dubai majoring in finance)
GMAT: 640
WE: 2 years at unilever in middle east (dubai)- working in supply chain planning
age: 22 (I finished highschool and uni earlier )

I am considering George town, Maryland, and George washington as my last choice. pls let me know what are the chances of getting into thesse schools with my current profile:) - any other school suggestions in DC area?

Hi Kimia,
Quick question- are you from Dubai?

Your good GPA will help, but since you're a young candidate your GMAT score might be a little low. If you have the time you may want to get it up to a 680 or so. If you don't have the time then it really comes down to your essays and letters of recommendations (you could still get into your schools with your GMAT score). Are you going to have good recommendations and do you have some good stories to tell for your essays? Generally the speaking, the GMAT keeps you out of schools and your essays get you into schools. Do you really know where you want to go after an MBA? I've had some students who had very convincing backgrounds that linked well with their future goals. Can you convince the admissions that you're mature enough even though you're young? That will be one of your main challenges.

In short, I think most people good background and good stories to tell can get into MBA programs. Keep in mind though that writing good essays often takes over a hundred hours and many drafts. Start by brainstorming ideas that answer the questions that the schools ask.
