Matt and Jaron are constructing a brick wall. If they work together, each at his own constant rate, how many hours does it take for them to finish the wall?

1) Matt lays 3 bricks for every 2 than Jaron lays.
2) There are 1000 bricks in the wall.

Even after combing both the statements, we cannot get the no. of hours since we do not have information about the rate at which Matt and Jaron lay bricks. From Statement 1, we have information about their comparative efficiencies, but that is not sufficient to answer the question.

The correct answer: E

1) The ratio of bricks laid \(M:J = 3:2\)
Nothing here about hours.

2) 1000 total bricks
Nothing here about hours.
Insufficient \(\Large{\color{red}\chi}\)

Together:
The ratio of bricks laid \(+\) total bricks
Still nothing about hours.
Insufficient \(\Large{\color{red}\chi}\)

Hence, E is the correct answer.
