Q18:
What is the value of the integer k?
(1) k + 3 > 0
(2) k^4 <= 0

Hi,

Would be of great assistance if someone can solve and explain this problem for me.

What is the value of the integer k?
(1) k + 3 > 0

k>-3

Now let us say k=0
Is 0>-3 . It is.
What is the answer for the problem now? 0 [because, we want value of k].

Now let us say k=1
Is 1>-3? Yes.

What is the answer in this case? K=1.

If we get 2 different results for the given question, then the statement provided is INSUFFICIENT.
Hence INSUFF

(2) k^4 < 0

k^4<0

Given k is an integer. I believe k^4 can never be less than 0.

I would suggest you to check your source.

Please chk the source,as kvpck mentioned it cannot be < 0

The second statement says that k^4<= 0. So k^4 does not have to be greater than zero.
it can simply be 0. So, K^4 = 0. So, when it is possible to have this. When k = 0.
So, the value of K is zero and the option B is the answer..
