Guys,
Check this out. Same question different Answers on GPREP. Can anyone explain.
What is being modified?
Also check the last part of the sentence in the two sentences.

I think D is the correct choice here. There is a lot going on here
First is the modifier issue, Modifier in the first clause should modify the contributions not Mary Leakey
Another hint is "Her" in the non underline part of the sentence, that is a possesive pronoun here. So the under line portion should not start
with noun.
the next issue is with parallelism. her discovery ... and her painstaking documentation ...
all of these make D as the correct choice.

First of all, they are NOT the same question. ( sorry for the typo)schumi_gmat wrote:Guys,

And E is wrong in your case, because discovering means that discovery is still in progress.

I know what you are saying Shumi, but i think your sentence is slightly different from the one posted above and so are the options.
I think the big 3 to check on a sentence correction are Subject Verb, Pronoun and Parallelism.
In the sentence you have posted, it does maintain a parallel structure and none of the answer choices maintain the parallel structure except A

Thanks Vineet,
I agree what you are saying. Only confusion I have is the about the modifier. In post 1, the modifier is modifying Leakey's work and in post 2 it is modifying leakey.
Hence I am confused, what is correct.

Thanks Logitech,
Can you also tell me about the modifier difference?
In post 1, the modifier is modifying Leakey's work and in post 2 it is modifying leakey.
What should a modifier phrase modify? leakey's contribution or leakey

logitech is right - you have two (slightly) different questions here. I've seen these before and people were confused then. Read carefully.
I would be happy to comment on each one further but they aren't typed into any posts, so I can't see them when I hit the reply button...
