Manhattan Tests - Something odd

Expert replies

DISCLAIMER : This post does not intend criticize Manhattan Prep is any way. In fact I have benefited greatly from this company's products and posts of their staff. I would, in fact, recommend Manhattan to anyone who wants to prepare for the GMAT.

Hi Everyone,

I have a question regarding the scoring on Manhattan Tests. .

The consensus on this forum seems to be that Quant is a little harder on Manhattan tests and that the verbal is easier. Well I gave Manhattan Test 1 right now with essays (650 Q:43. V:36). I had given GMAT PREP 3 weeks back 630 (Q:42, V:34).

I am actually happy with the Quant score - I expecting a below 40 on this section and above 40 in verbal. Has Manhattan gone easy on the scoring and questions on Quant? I found none of the Quant questions particularly hard. Most of my mistakes were silly and questions I should have gotten correct! Perhaps I was not doing well enough to actually see the harder questions.

Verbal - the SC and CR were actually easy. I got almost all the RC's wrong. I must have got only 25% of RCs correct. Found THE RC's a bit different to GMAT prep and OG questions.

Experts or fellow students please do let me know your thoughts on this!

Thank You,
RTS

Well may be you've improved your quants. That might be the reason that you find Manhattan questions easier now.

I concur with your comment on RC's. I too find RC's very different from that of GMATPrep. I've never scored good in Manhattan RC's - always getting less than 50% correct.

Thanks for your comments Papgust. I reviewed my test in detail and my opinion on MGMAT RCs has not changed. Quant - seemed ok. I am geared up for my next test in a week's time! Let's see how it goes.
