there is no question of C.. the reason is ..there is no other person than Einstein who is getting the training ...so no need to use HE in the second part.
The close contender are A and B

A - it can be taken as parallelism with thinking much.. The menaing could be ..EINSTEIN is achieving both the things as seperate activity.

b.) attended the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich, receiving in-depth training in quantitative analysis and developed

B - it cna be correct, if author tries to mean that ... Einstein developed for future excellence by receivig those skills....both are dependent .one task is happening first and the second task may happen in parallel or later.
But in this option the problem is - we should not have AND just before developed, it should have just the comma..
