Hey guys,

First of all, I did not find a topic here covering the manhattan "bootcamp" prep course so I created this one..
Did anyone of you take this kind of prep course or a similiar one?
I am actually thinking about it, but since 3000 bucks plus flight etc is a lot of money I just wanted to be sure that this course
will help me.For sure, I know that it is up to me and my studying behaviour how high I score but anyway...I want to be sure that it is not just a way for Manhattan to make money...

Do you have limited time to take the exam? When do you plan on applying? Tuesday will be my 8th in-person MGMAT class and I cannot imagine going through all of the information in a 2 week time span only because there's so much work. But if you decide to take it, I would love to hear your feedback.

Actually, I have limited time to take a course.
I am now in my exchange semester and have a lot of time to study the gmat books...the problem is that here aren´t any courses available. So my plan is to already know all the basics and get the detail with this course. And I want to take the test straight after the bootcamp...so 3 month book preparing plus the bootcamp;)
Flight costs since I study in germany...

I see that you are thinking of taking a course in June, so you have allowed yourself time to plan well...I just thought that I would mention some other options for you that might save you thousands of dollars...

At Veritas, we also have an intensive one week course in New York and other locations that covers all 42 hours of the full course in just one week, but that still requires you to travel to NYC. However, we have courses in three cities in Germany, as well as Paris, Prague, Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam to name a few locations. Many of these locations have full courses - or courses that take place over two consecutive weekends. I saw courses scheduled for April and May as well as June in Europe (where you are!)

And there is another option, at Veritas we offer an online course that is the same length and quality as the in-person course. This would save you several thousand dollars and the hassle of travel and would allow you to study at the appropriate pace.

I know that other companies have offerings as well...just want to make sure you have all the facts. .

It looks like one of our virtual courses is starting this Tuesday (from 7PM to 10PM Central European Time).

Hey david,
thanks for the information you provided. Well, I am sure that there are not huge differences among the different companies and they all offer high quality teaching.However, I didn´t find a real alternative to the 2 week bootcamp of MGMAT and doubt that your 1 week program is ideal for me. Likewise, I think I am not the learningtype for online courses which doesn´t mean that they are bad in general.

So...nobody took the bootcamp courses or heared anything about it?

Give me $3000 and I'll even cook and clean your house for two weeks! :) I'll come to Germany and tutor you in person for $3000! I even have all the Manhattan guides...

Joke aside, are you sure this is worth it? I haven't heard of anyone willing to fork out roughly 4500 on GMAT preparation. I spent $150...

I think you should take a diagnostic test before you decide if you want to do this or would rather go with something else, such as tutoring in Germany (I'm sure there are plenty of talented tutors over there). If your diagnostic score is low and you're targeting Harvard, it might be worth it, but if you're no more than 100 points from your goal, then I think you should reconsider.

I'm not saying that the Manhattan course is not worth the $3000 (I obviously have not tried it), but it's just too much of a logistical nightmare...

Hey Dana,

you can feel very happy to just spend 150 bucks on your preperation....maybe you would have spent more on it if it was a test in a foreign language;)I mean, the maths in gmat is not a big issue for me but the verbal part is.
So I do not just consider this course as a way to learn about the gmat in general but also as a waay to improve my language skills etc. (which will help me on the verbal part)
And as you said,if an online course is about 1k,3k is "ok" for this kind of course...Anyway,maybe there are further experiences within this forum whcih might help...
