I need some advice on how to manage my 18 month daughter, my Full Time job and making sure I get a good score on the GMAT. Anyone had a similar situation? :cry:

Hi isisalaska:

Thanks for your question--you certainly have some challenges to overcome in your preparation with your obligations, but you still have the capability of doing great on the GMAT!

The primary challenge you are going to face is to maintain consistency with your studies. If you to decide to study on your own (that is, not take a GMAT prep course), you really need to have at least one-hour a day (minimum) dedicated to GMAT study, probably for two months.

In your situation, I would think about going through a GMAT prep course, since it would provide a mechanism to get you out of your house to consistently study for your test. However, if you do decide to study on your own, the first thing you need to do is create an effective study strategy. Take a look at my GMAT blog: https://beatthegmat.blocked; this is one example of what one successful study strategy could look like, and it will give you a sense of the kind of commitment necessary to achieve your goal.

for the first time in my all three hundred posts journey i think i wll recommend a private tutor or coaching classes.

Reason: a dedicated, consistant and compulsary hours for GMAT prep.

about consistency this is what I have being doing. Luckily I have a great husband who takes care of my daugher so I can go to the library to study. :)
M-Th- I study from 5-8
Sat- 3-6
Sunday- 2-7
Do you think I need to increase my study hours?

I am so happy I found this forum, I think what I have been lacking is a good strategy, I am not lacking study hours but definitely have to increase speed and control my anxiety. Also, since I started 2 months ago I feel a little burnout and many times my confidence goes down. It is so hard to manage everything but I really want to be admitted in the Ph. D program in Business Admin.
Last time I told the GMAT in 1998 for my MBA it was SO MUCH easier. Now I am struggling… :? Thank you for your great thoughts.
