At a certain college, there are twice as many English majors as history majors and three times as many English majors as math majors.What is the ratio of history to math?

A.6:1
B.3:2
C.2:3
D.1:5
E.1:6

Divide i by ii

2H/3M=1 =>H/M = 3/2

I agree with Ricky.

From the question there are twice as many engligh as history students, so english is > history.

e = 2h and the same goes to english and math, so e = 3m.

How are some of you coming up with E=2h. The question state twice as many english majors as history. If there is 1 history major, then there are 2 english majors..hence 2e=h

Ans is 2:3 and not 3:2

2E = H
3E = M

H/E=2:1
lly E/M = 1:3

Hence H:M = 2:3
Ans is C

I did confirm from another poston same question, the answer is 3:2. Heres how:
1) twice as many english as history. If there are 10 history then there are 20 english...e=2h...simply plug in 10 to the equation and you get 20 for english. In your equation..2e=h, you would get english equals 5, which is not correct. The same goes for the other equation.

After all is said & done...answer = 3:2

Hope it helps....there are other post on the same question
