Dean paid $B/S per banana Question: Which one of them paid a higher price-per-banana? Or, which between A/R and B/S is greater? Let's take each statement one by one. 1) B > A Case 1: If S < R, the answer is B/S, i.e. compared to Madge, Dean paid more for fewer bananas. Case 2: If S >> R, the answer may be A/R, i.e. compared to Madge, though Dean paid more, he got far greater number of bananas, making B/S < A/R. No unique answer. Insufficient. 2) R > S Needless to state that after reading the analysis of Statement 1, Statement 2 is insufficient. (1) and (2) together Case 3: B > A and R > S. In other words, compared to Madge, Dean paid more for fewer bananas, making B/S > A/R. Sufficient. The correct answer: C Hope this helps! -Jay _________________ Manhattan Review Locations: Manhattan Review Tarnaka | GMAT Prep Madhapur | GRE Prep Kukatpally | Jayanagar GRE Coaching | and many more...
