A watch costs $100. Anakin bought the watch at a discount of x%. He then sold the watch to Luke at a discount of y%. How many dollars did Luke pay Anakin for the watch?

A. 100 − (x + y)
B. 100 − (x + y + (xy/100))
C. 100 − (x + y − (xy/100))
D. 100 − (x − y + (xy/100))
E. 100 − (x − y − (xy/100))

IMO C

Anakin bought for 100- x

luke paid - (100-x) - y(100-x)/100

(100-x) - y(1- x/100)

(100-x) - y+ xy/100

100-(x+y -xy/100)

Just try to plug numbers in.

Be x: 10% and y: 20%

Anakin bought the watch for 100-10%=90USD and Luke bought it for 90-20%=72 USD.

So the answer that yeld 72 will be the correct one.

hence answer (C).
