HI,

Wondering about my chances at NYU PT Langone program.

Background... at Chapel Hill low cumulative undergrad gpa 2.37 overall, 3.15 major, progressed to Deans List in senior year. Started out pre med which killed me and brought average down...english, history, statistics...all A's and B's.

Currently advertising supervisor at a major american fashion label in nyc with 12 years experience looking to take a step back and hit reboot. GMAT score is 640.

Tons of extracurricular and active adoptions counselor for the ASPCA.

Recommendations from Director of ASPCA an senior management at work are not a problem.

Thoughts?

Dear jknyc75,

I think you still have a chance at the Langone program, despite your GPA, if you put together a really strong application package. With 12 years of experience, there is considerable time since your college days, and you showed marked improvement in your last two years. Depending on how you did on the quantitative section of your GMAT, you might consider taking a couple of math classes to further assuage any concerns on your quantitative abilities. Finally, go visit the school and establish a relationship with one of the admissions directors. It will really help you to write more focused essays and will help the admissions committee to know more about you as a person, versus just an application, when it comes to your evaluation.

Good luck,
Lisa
