Took TOEFL on 14th Nov. Got a disappointing score of only 96 (R : 26, L : 23, S : 22, W : 25). Most of the reputed univs. require a minimum of 100. Does a second attempt hinder admission prospects? Was planning for FALL 2010 but will have to rethink.

No, I do not think a second try would hurt your chances. This is something that you just have to tick off a list, not something very important. Good luck with your second try!
