Hi Stacy,

I graduated from Dartmouth College with a low GPA - 3.23 and am aiming for a top MBA program. My GPA was mainly brought down by two C's and a D in three different Calculus courses in the first two terms of my Freshman year (after which my GPA trended up). I am currently taking and A-cing Statistics to demonstrate my quantitative aptitude. I also plan on retaking an Intro Calculus course. I know that Calculus has no practical application for MBAs but is it necessary to retake all three Calculus courses that I didn't do well in or will A's in Intro Calculus and Statistics combined with a high GMAT score suffice?

Dear DCJ,

Actually, calculus is important for business school. It is used in most finance classes and professors expect students to have an understanding of calculus in the first year. Since you did not do well in your calculus courses in college, I would suggest taking one to demonstrate you have the knowledge and can do well in math.
