Sorry to hear about that but this may be a case of diminishing returns. Im not a GMAT guru but I've seen a friend have to go through that with the LSAT. The guy studied for nearly a year and bombed it. He practically was burned out. Everyone is different but putting in 7 months on the GMAT is too much. 4 months or less is good enough. The GMAT is a standardized test, its not like memorizing a novel verbatim. Other than that I dont know what to say, im still trying to get into this gmat thing my self but I probably wont devote over 5 months to studying for the test. Take a prep course and dont give up. I'd say that with this score you're probably missing some of the fundamentals. For quant, you could dig up your old high school books. For verbal, try buying a good grammar book. Also, as previously suggested, it might be a good idea to register for a course.

how did you feel on test day? Were you nervous, tired/lost focus when you got to verbal (did you do the essay on practice test), thrown off your usual pace from practice test?

In the bigining I felt littel bit panic but on the verbal part confident. Also I always skiped essay sections.
