I know that b-schools generally prefer professional recommendations to academic ones. I potentially have 2 great recommendations from direct supervisors, a great one from a peer at work, and one glowing academic recommendation from a professor that has evaluated much of my work.

My question is: of the below schools (all of whom require 2 recommendations, with the exception of Harvard and Stanford who require 3, I believe), which ones would it be acceptable to use an academic recommendation for? Otherwise, if I can only use prof. recommendations, should I have 2 supervisor LORs, or one from a supervisor, one from a peer? Many, many thanks!

I forgot to mention, I am an early career candidate (will have 2 years' work experience by matriculation), in consideration of the academic recommendation. Thanks!

Dear tonytony,

I would go with 2 professional recommendations, especially since you only have 2 years experience. Most schools like supervisors best, but you should pick the ones that will be the best for you. I like peer recommendations, but you will need to have at least one from a supervisor.

Good luck,
Lisa
