Where is this question from?

We can prove (b) simply by aligning the equations:

z = |x| = |y|

therefore z = |y|

However, (c) also must be true. Since z = |x|, we know that z is either 0 or positive. Therefore, |z| = z, so:

|z| = z = |y|

and

|z| = |y|

Accordingly, both (b) and (c) must be true. So, either the question is wrong or you haven't accurately reproduced it.
