Although one link in the chain was demonstrated to be weak, but not sufficiently so to require the recall of the automobile.

(A) demonstrated to be weak, but not sufficiently so to require
(B) demonstrated as weak, but it was not sufficiently so that it required
(C) demonstrably weak, but not sufficiently so to require
(D) demonstrably weak, it was not so weak as to require
(E) demonstrably weak, it was not weak enough that it required

please explain every option.

A - independent clause lack verb; B - 2nd best choice for me...but it has 'but' ...I think 'but' is not required.
C - independent clause lack verb; D - so...as
IMO E....'idiom' enough that ...is correct and independnt clause has verb

(A) demonstrated to be weak, but not sufficiently so to require - The meaning is not correct. You don't demonstrate for anything to be weak

(B) demonstrated as weak, but it was not sufficiently so that it required - "it" is repeated and wordy

(C) demonstrably weak, but not sufficiently so to require - after "but" ..no subject is mentioned ( independent clause should have subject)

(D) demonstrably weak, it was not so weak as to require - "it" ( subject is mentioned) so X as to Y is the proper idiom

(E) demonstrably weak, it was not weak enough that it required - changes the meaning completely

Use only one connector at a time.
Subordinator ( Although) should not be used along with another Coordinating Conjunction (BUT). - This eliminates A,B and C

Quoting examples from MGMAT
-----------------------------------------------
Wrong : Although I need to relax, yet I have so many things to do
Right : Although I need to relax, I have so many things to do

In E, second IT is unnecessary. Choose D.
