Hi All,

Today I wrote my gmat and in the quants section, I reached the last question (Q 37) with 45 seconds remaining. Hence, I clicked an answer choice randomly and then tried to solve the question. While I was solving the Qn, a message came up that said "Your time is over". Now, have I faced a penalty of not completing the section in this scenario ?

I don't think it counts, because you have to confirm everything on the GMAT.

There's another case similar to this where someone clicked next but not confirm, or vice versa, can't remember the order. I think in your case you have faced a penalty, unfortunately.
My goal is to make MBA applicants take onus over their process.

You must have faced the Penalty for not completing the test. When you have less than 30 seconds, submit the random choice will be best strategy.

But, I should say with a little practice, you can easily pace and complete the test with 5 minutes spare. Do not get into this circus of counting last few seconds

i think i woul dhave done the same there here... chosen the answer i thought it was... then tried to figure it out to confirm... just stinks that you still ran out of time

I read a post by Stacey Koprince and she mentioned that even if you do not confirm the last question but just mark it then it is not penalized, GMAT takes the selected choice. I think I found that post in resources.

But if I were you I would still confirm it, just in case.
