Hello,

My first post here. I read in barrons or kaplan, that when running out of time, it is better to mark the answer and solve the question even if time runs out. You are allowed to confirm your final answer even when time is up.
However, I was not able to do the same while doing the kaplan's practice test.

So my question is - Is it possible to mark the answer when running out time, and change and confirm it later even when time is up.

Ideally, the situation should never arise, but I have only started managing my time. :wink:

It is possible in Alice's Wonderland but not in GMAT :lol:

Are you asking "if you select an answer for the last question and allow time to run out, will this question get marked"? I.e. do you have to select Ok and confirm your answer?

I have been asking this question on this forum in random places but I haven't yet received a sufficient answer. For AWA yes the essays will get marked. For the quant and verbal sections.... I have yet to hear what happens.... anyone?

JSL, yes AWA will be still marked even if you hadnt confirm it. But in both and verbal sections,when the time is up and you did not confirm it, your question will not be marked if you did not confirm and you will be penalized for the question.

vikz_316, NO you can not change your answer after the time runs out.

I'm still not sure about if you mark it and hit next but don't confirm.

I'm nearly 100% positive that you can not change it after time runs out then hit confirm

I believe you are incorrect here. Stacey (from MGMAT) posted that if you mark an answer and time runs out, that answer will be counted, regardless of whether you hit confirm.

I agree with Stockmoose16.

If you have selected a choice and if you run out of time....without confirming, then that question is still counted (i.e you will get points for a right answer and may loose points for a wrong answer)
My odds to success increase incredibly with each attempt.

I marked the answer, but did not press the next button. The answer was not counted. Probably would have had i selected the next button.

you need not worry with Gprep or real GMAT. Once you have selected an option....it will be counted.

It's a real question about a real situation that many face. It does take a few seconds to confirm. As Stacey from MGMAT has pointed out elsewhere and as I can confirm from GMATPREP (you can too), it does seem to be counted even if you didn't select next at all. i.e. just select a response.

Guys...

I forgot to click NEXT on one of the AWA questions and got a prompt that said the question was expired. Does it mean that the AWA will not be considered? I was under the impression that it would save and consider the text when the time ends.

Nope. You are fine. This happened to me on both AWA questions, but I did fine.
