The lady I bought the car from is soon leaving for the U.S.

(A) The lady I bought the car from is soon leaving for the U.S.

(B) The lady I bought the car from will soon have left for the U.S.

(C) The lady whom bought the car from is soon leaving for the U.S.

(D) The lady from whom I bought the car is soon leaving for the U.S.

(E) The lady is soon leaving for the U.S. from whom I bought the car.

IMO D

(B) The lady I bought the car from will soon have left for the U.S. - will have left for the US is awkward

(C) The lady whom bought the car from is soon leaving for the U.S. - 'I' is missing. It not clear, who bought the car.

(E) The lady is soon leaving for the U.S. from whom I bought the car. - Implies I bought car from US.

i guess if there would have been "whom" in A..then it would have been perfect..

i dont think in D it means the Car is going to US..

anyone.??

i don't either, both A and D could be correct I guess. I would have chosen D, I don't understand why A is a better choice?

The lady I bought the car from <- I have never seen this type of construction right in GMAT ....

GMAT will prefer the lady from whom i bought the car...

THAT / WHOM can be elimated when the noun that is modified(THE LADY) is the object of the Modifying cluase. (FROM WHOM I BOUGHT THE CAR)

The lady I bought the car from is soon leaving for the U.S

Here is an other example.

The food [THAT] we had yesterday was very good. Here THAT need not be there.

The food we had yesterday was very good.

Still not conviced with A..

from your logic, A can be rewritten as below

The lady whom I bought the car ... is leaving for the US

D:
The lady from whom I bought the car ... is leaving for the US


D looks good for me.
