Among the wall paintings being analyzed by the art critic is a landscape that characterizes art from the Pure Land tradition; this kind of naturalistic landscape, with mountains and trees that seem simplistic and spontaneous although the brushstrokes that comprise them are actually quite complex, reflect a deep appreciation for nature that was inspired by Taoist ideals

(A) mountains and trees that seem simplistic and spontaneous although the brushstrokes that comprise them are actually quite complex, reflect

(B) mountains and trees that seem simplistic and spontaneous although they are comprised of brushstrokes that are actually quite complex, reflect

(C) seemingly simplistic and spontaneous mountains and trees although the brushstrokes that comprise them are actually quite complex, reflects

(D) seemingly simplistic and spontaneous mountains and trees although the brushstrokes that comprise them are actually quite complex, reflect

(E) mountains and trees that seem simplistic and spontaneous although the brushstrokes that comprise them are actually quite complex, reflects

What is the problem with choice D?

Hi,
'this kind of naturalistic landscape' is singular so verb should be singular(reflects). This eliminates A,B,D
'with mountains....' is just an additive phrase. It will not make the subject a plural one.

IMO E
D uses reflect, which is plural verb but the subject is singular. (this kind of naturalistic landscape)

Hi Rohu.. Long time no see...

C says that the mountains are spontanous and spectacular but these praise-tags shall be on painting

The portrait is spectacular not the mountains... change in meaning..
First take: 640 (50M, 27V) - RC needs 300% improvement
Second take: coming soon..

HSPA.

I'm sorry guys I also meant that I am not able to understand what's wrong with option C.

And I am still not able to get the difference between C and E.

c) as HSPA said, according to to option c), mountains are spontaneous and not the painting (but that's not the case)
where as in E, mountains seem spontaneous in painting.
