A recent study found that if children socialize and were reading challenging material, they will be more likely to read on their own and gain proficiency quicker than will children who read material that is overly simplistic.

Okay..I was a bit skeptical about 'More Quickly'...if that is correct then so is option C.

So in this sentence both quicker and more quickly work, correct? The problem in B is the use of will.

The problem in B is that quicker is an adjective.
quickly in C is an adverb.An adverb defines how, where and when something happens.therefore C is correct.
