IT seems "homes:" featured the preparation of great quantities of ceremonial food ...because of the use of "that" after "homes"...

Instead its the "festivals" that featured the preparation....

this is a perfect example of why problems from non-official sources, or problems that are altogether unsourced, are suspect.

if there's any good reason to disqualify choice (e), it's exactly the reason posited by "raunekk" above: the juxtaposition of "that" and "home" commits the modifier to modifying "home".

sounds good, but there's one big problem: the gmat doesn't follow that rule. in fact, this "rule" is in direct contravention of the gmat's established practice.
evidence:
og11 diagnostic test (front of book), question #50.
in the correct answer, there is a "that" modifier that acts exactly like the one in choice (e) here (i.e., it doesn't modify the adjoining noun "internet" but, rather, a much more distant noun).

therefore, according to the rules followed by the gmat itself - which are, of course, the only rules that matter in this game - choice (e) would also be fine.

Dont you think in D (In her home, Aho, a Kiowa matriarch), it seems Aho is the name of home of a Kiowa matriarch?

'In her home' is a prepositional phrase and does not modify Aho

So how do we identify these tricks??????
D and E both are correct, but which one should be preferred??
