A thin conveyor belt is 15 feet long is drawn tightly around two circular wheels each 0.5 feet radius. What is the distance in feet between the center of two wheels?

Take a look in the following figure,

The red one is the conveyer belt.

Distance between the center of two wheels = (Length of the conveyer belt - Length of the semicircular part of the conveyer belt)/2

Now length of the semicircular parts of the conveyer belt = 2*(Circumference of the wheel/2) = Circumference of the wheel = 2*π*0.5 feet = π feet

Length of the conveyer belt = 15 feet

Distance between the center of two wheels = (15 - π)/2

The correct answer is A.
