Kicking off for an MBA...

by sandstormGMAT » Sun Sep 23, 2012 10:46 pm
Hi All,

I am planning to do an Management program in Australia.

My profile is as below:

Academic profile:
B.Tech in Electronics & Communication engineering -- 78%
Intermediate -- 85%

Work experience : 3 years of experience as a System Analyst in Tata Consultancy Services, providing software solutions to a Global Wealth Management firm.

Can you please suggest some good universities in Australia?
Also is having a score of 750 in GMAT, in any way useful for the admission process?

Thanks
Sandeep

Sandeep,
With a 750 you can probably get into ANY Australian program you wish! As for which programs are there - have a look at the Financial Time and other rankings for International programs... they can give you a good idea not only of the ranking, but of the class sizes, tuition, jobs, salaries, etc.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for your reply..

I have noticed that almost all Australian B-Schools require your IELTS score, work experience and your UG score.
I wanted to know if a GMAT score is necessary for the admission process or will a good IELTS score suffice. In other words, what is the added advantage of having a 750 GMAT score alongwith a good IELTS score.

Also, I'm an Electronic & Communication Engg. graduate and currently my entire work is pretty much based on Trading & Investments.

So, how should I channel myself so as to end up in the RIGHT program and the RIGHT major?

Thanks!!
Sandeep

Almost all programs with International MBAs require the GMAT. Check per program, as there are some that don't but they are very few and far between. IELTS is a totally different exam - that most graduate programs take as proof of English skills (along with the TOEFL)
